The 40th anniversary of the foundation of the Finnish DanceSport Federation (FDSF), the Finland Open and the GrandSlam Latin Helsinki all coincided today. Into one big party celebrating the very essence of what movement to music stands for in this country!
WDSF President Lukas Hinder conveyed a congratulatory message on the part of the world governing body's Presidium and Membership.
Here is an excerpt of Hinder's speech given at the official reception.
"I had a brief look at your organisation’s history from when it all started on 16 March in 1976. The fact that what is now the Finnish DanceSport Federation was created through a merger is probably most revealing about the spirit of your founding fathers. In a sport where – at least in the past – the dividing has been more commonplace than bringing together, this first Finnish step towards unity was both bold and visionary."
