Sub-Standard Stream

Streaming Live From Cambrils

It was definitely not what we intended to deliver to our worldwide audiences as a live stream under our brand. Of the seven hours of live transmissions that were announced earlier on Saturday 26 March as the format of extensive coverage on the European Youth Latin, the PD European Standard and - for good measure - the Cambrils International Open Standard, none met our expectations as to the stability of the stream. And it didn't meet yours either we learned through comments and messages everywhere.

We could get into details, most of them of a highly technical nature, but we believe that it is not productive at this stage - after what was a humbling exercise in futility for all of us. Let us sum it all up in one single photograph, the one on the left: HD streams going through a 4G network, that's not the most adequate set-up for what we pretended to do.

Here is our pledge: in the course of Sunday 27 March, we will upload the most decisive stages of the European Youth Latin and the PD European Standard, i.e. semi-finals and finals (precisley what you had to watch in sub-standard quality - with the signal breaking up regularly) in a clean 1080 HD version.

We do this after having lost another hour of much needed sleep due to the time change here in Spain. Cheers, guys!
